The Ashdown building is currently undergoing extensive refurbishments and as a part of this refurbishment, we have carried out replacements to all the fire doors in the building.
Work including removal of the old doorsets and glass screens, building stud walls and insulating followed by installing the new timber FD30 doorsets and side screens. The timber doors were finished with a coat of vinyl matt emulsion. We carried out these works to B M Trada fire safety standards.
To the doorsets, we also installed hard wired hold opens which includes input relays that will allow the fire alarm system to trigger the opening of all the doors.
The existing electrical supply for the original hold opens had to be upgraded for certain doors. Because of this extra electrical work, we had to ensure the lift in the building was operational for when disabled users were scheduled to come into the building. We worked with their schedules and there was no lift downtime for them.
the installs were completed throughout August and handed over to the client before the new school term started.
